Doctor of Philosophy in English (Literature)

DELL'S doctoral program in English with specialization in literature offers training in a wide range of fields including postcolonial and postmodern literature, film and screen studies, women's literature, creative non-fiction, war literature, and many others. Keeping in view the interdisciplinary nature of academic research, we also offer courses having intersectional focus on language and literature. These include courses on literary stylistics, semiotics, literature in translation, and others. The program consists of three major components: coursework, comprehensive examination, and research dissertation. Together, these elements introduce students to a variety of textual modes, and critical methodologies; provide extensive practice in research, discussion, argument, and writing; and develop pedagogical skills.
