Dr. Osama Siddique, the author of 'Snuffing Out the Moon', visited DELL on October 13th, 2018. Dr. Siddique talked about his debut novel and interacted with the participants through an extensive discussion on literature and its contemporaneity. The talk was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants, including both teachers and students of DELL. The event ended with book signing by Dr. Siddique as his novel was available for purchase. DELL invites its students and staff to an afternoon with Amjad Islam Amjad and Asghar Nadeem Syed. The two legends will reflect on literature and television. The event will be held on May 3, 2018 at 2 pm in Auditorium 2, The University of Lahore, Main Campus.

Dr. Sikander Ali chaired a session in 3rd Kashmir International Conference on Linguistics held at Muzaffarabad from 16-17 April, 2018. He also presented his paper entitled “Translation is an impossibly possible task: An oxymoron".

Bilal Tanweer, the author of "The Scatter Here is Too Great", visited the Pakistani Literature in English class of Dr. Saeed Ur Rehman on Saturday. The worthy guest discussed the politics of choosing to write a novel in English from Pakistan, and how he developed an urban/metropolitan sensibility. His talk was followed by a question and answer session. The students enjoyed the chance to interact with the writer. We look forward to having similar sessions at DELL, Dr. Rehman!

Department of English Language & Literature arranged an evening with Qaisra Sharaz, the British author of Pakistani origin. The focus of her talk was on building cultural bridges through literature with a special focus on peace and gender issues. Shahraz also talked about and read from her latest book and previous novels, and answered questions . Shahraz also brought copies of her novels. Students and staff bought and got them personally signed by the author.
